The DMCA law was enacted to protect work from being stolen from creators, but more than ever, it's being abused by individuals with grudges or game companies who want to silence genuine reporting. Releasing footage of a non released software/entertainment product ala movie etc, is against Law. It’s funny to me that now YOU are against Activision but after someone leaked cp2077 you was against the LEAKER. There is word for that. You the word. And just because the leak is already on the internet, it doesn’t makes the law a “who cares” state. Childp. Is also out there, should we now allow the share just i mean who cares, it’s already out there 🙄 Law Nippicking
I always consider the DMCA an unconstitutional POS, for these reasons.
And the scary thing is that you need to give your personal informations to fitgh a DMCA strike and thus there is people that false flag you just to get that information and dox you in revenge.
@Orion Gear I know I know but all you guys do is complain and yet still buy their games. When assassin unity came out I bought the game on day one and If you know Ubisoft well I have no need to say more. Since then I have never touched anything with the name Ubisoft on it. My point is nothing speaks louder than you wallet. Just look at how fast their game prices drop just look. Now with crystal dynamics and sad to say this CDPR. If they do not add they don't add the missing features that I PAID for I'll never buy another game from them again.
@Jean Sweets You know its 100% legal for news reporters to report on leaks as long as they’re not the ones leaking the info right? On Thin Ice was clearly abiding by US law when he reported on the leaks. Its not like he signed some NDA with Activision. If he did, things would be different.
I mean... why would Activision even go through all that effort? If it was an entire game that got leaked years in advance, that would be one thing... but it was just an already-made trailer for an existing game’s update that’s probably coming in like a month or so. Who even fucking cares at that point?
Activision's reputation is on the razor's edge from being forever tarnished
6:34 i love how the reply below it is just "have you covered this nibel?" and its just the discord-microsoft rickroll video
Hot Take: Activision intentionally leaking info to DMCA those who would report about it.
The thing is, they can DMCA anybody and they could well lose the case, but no one is willing to go to court due to time dilatation and expenses, so the safest thing to do is to comply. Could be used also if they don't like some review.
Wouldn't be surprised if the original source of the leak is being sued to death or being fitted for a drum of acid now.
Fuck Activision. The boycott continues.
I got banned for playing cold war zombies :(
DMCA should have a 'damage control' exclusion, where mass strikes combat press and news is misuse. Crying wolf should prevent an entity from further strikes, or limit their capacity. First party leaker is the only valid DMCA, hence why they usually try to stay anonymous. If the cat's out of the bag, there's no way to get it back in, attacking everyone who sees it just makes you look bad.
Big companies are dictators, they make their own rules and do not follow the laws in place, your dollar is all that matters to them and if you do something they don't like they will remove you from their platform, but you can make a new account and give them more money. All they want from you is your money, not your opinion.
@Kyle Harvey Exactly!
Calling out the bullshit that is microtransactions, lootboxes, and any other kind of egregious predatory monetization scheme is not an opinion, it's a FACT.
Maybe the media should give them a one year no reporting.. Let Activision send out all the PR stunts they want.. just put it in the trash
Activision Being Activision
This is why I love listening to Yongyea so much
should have a total blackout protest, just see whats happens. cant get a dmca if no coverage was done. but money talks so money wins i gess
i refuse to have any thing to do with activision. i have not played any new or old activision product. and as a dev never will.
Sooooo.... let's not play Activison games? 🤷♂️
If 2K had reached out to me and asked me to reconsider my original 3/10 score, I would've reconsidered and given it a 1/10 score. Would've been well-deserved.
Class action lawsuit of all the people improperly dmca by Activision over the years improper use and abuse of a rule
The video game industry is pretty disgusting when you really look at what goes on... Man the worlds a pretty depressing place
that's activision for you
Activision does a stupid today. Everyone: They're violating the rights of others! Spread the word! Activision: Here's the next shooter/DLC for a current shooter. Everyone: Here's our money. But your dicks. Activision: Just pay for your daily fix of microtransactions and stop pretending you'll do something about it. We both know you won't challenge us.
@ElderFan 1425 FACTS!!
His name is on thin ice. You really think he meant no harm? Common sense goes a long way.
Why is every video tou put out whining and complaining about things. All youre doing is giving kids reason to be whiners as well. Have you not caught on to one of the golden rules of life. You have a voice here. Spread positivity instead of all these garbage thought processes. Balance man. Balance.
Of course they change the map on earth day and my birthday lmao, not that i care that much i hate warzone
I feel like Activison could murder its own staff and people would still buy the next COD its pathetic. Another minute in Africa. Another minute passed. FIboth. FIboth never Change. FIboth is hell.
If you're still buying COD games, congratulations, you're the fucking enemy.
Blue checkmark "journalist": Celebrates censorship when they see someone they dont agree with get censored Also Blue checkmark "journalists" when a company protects their IP: NOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CANT DO THAT, CENSORSHIP BAD WE LIVE IN DYSTOPIAN SOCIETY JUST LIKE IN 1984
Dearest Yong, using the word "journalist" to describe most of these hacks gives real journalists a bad name
YT channels are free (so far) so why can't everybody set up half a dozen "burner" channels and spam post the leak all over the place? Use a VPN to stop any IP addy block. You can't stop the signal.
Nintendo, even how crap they are never heard going after news report regarding Nintendo breach. Kinda odd.
epic rap battle of law ,dmca vs the first amendment. who will win, you decide?
@dominic hart yes
@dominic hart oh ok
@Christian Atkinson don't you mean freedom of the press.
TYPO!! Freedom
Exactly. Whatever happened to freedomdom of speech
Stop buying stuff from companies like that. Watch somebody else play their shit on _Twitch._
I'm not here to watch the video but just to say this isn't new and should have been stood against by all gamers. What happened to supmatto? And others I'm sure have been abused by these companies but you guys will just move past and consume their next product.
This is why the DMCA law needs to have added to ithat should ANY ENTITY perpetually (5 or more tmes against any account) without true cause and uses DMCA in an illegal manner according to the DMCA law can face being banned from using the DMCA takediwn notice on the site they perpetually use it in an illegal manner at the site's discretion; if a site takes them to court for perpetual abuse and wins they will pay all court costs, LOSS OF ANY INCOME FROM THE TAKEDOWN, A MONETARY DAMAGE AMOUNT SET AT $50,000 TO BE PAID TO THE ENITY THAT THE ILLEGAL DMCA REPORTED FOR REPUTATION DAMAGE REPARATIONS and legal fees on both sides as well as be fined $1,000,000 per ILLEGAL USE OF THE DMCA TAKEDIWN NOTI CE committed to the site they illegally sited in the DMCA. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP ANY FROM FILING FALSE DNCA TAKEDOWN NOTICES.
Any game that relies on IAP I will never play.
Activision also uses a no appeal ban system for games like Call of Duty. False positive bans happen but because of this system you are unable to provide proof that you weren't cheating. This is absurd, everyone who plays the game has the risk of getting a permanent ban without being able to appeal in any way whatsoever. Furthermore they DON'T provide any information on why you were banned. These facts are downright criminal. You are essentially at risk of getting banned permanently just by playing the game fair and square. You get robbed of your money and more important your time. Don't know if it's appropriate to place this here, but I feel this is an issue not widely spoken about. Most studios including Ubisoft give you the ability to appeal, Activision straight up denies that right. My friend got banned for no reason while casually playing a match of zombies in Cold War, so that’s the reason I'm saying this.
@The One maybe that could explain that recent streamer that got banned
What a surprise. They bow to the vile CCP elite and now, in a growing list of wrongs, they try and abuse laws to shut down and censor the public. They'll answer for that abuse with the public becoming more and more aware.
You know what you never hear about? The leaker. Who leaked this? Has to be from Activision. Was it Activision itself trying to drum up interest?
I hate Activision but coverage of leaks isn't legitimate. Leaks are spoilers and spoilers are cancer
Sure, but at the same time, it would be easy to create a few burner accounts and leak stuff through it and reference those accounts for your articles.
Let's commit arson on Activision HQ.
DMCA, ah yes the way to quiet people you don’t like.
NFTs fix this
What is the wording in the Act regarding abuse of it? Isn't a company leaving itself open to huge fines for abusing the law?
DMCA is just a weapon now. Sony hit me for my review of Grandia on the PS1.... I called it my all time #1 favorite RPG and encouraged people to go and buy it and mentioned the digital version on the PlayStation store. Nothing but Praise for the game and I still got a strike. Thankfully I appealed it and the strike was removed. One day someone is going to Sue FIboth/Twitter for being an accomplice in a false DMCA claim. Guilty till proven innocent is not the way to handle this. The Burden of proof is on the wrong person here.
Facts
I knew Activision was scummy but man, this is just scummy on a new level
According to them (Activision-Blizzard-King), the good news was that they've hired a member of Trump's presidential team as a Chief Administrative Officer. According to them, the good news was that they broke records on an MMO expansion release during a time when EVERYONE is locked up at home starving for SOMETHING TO DO.... and then they broke records with the drop-off of players due to the content being half-arsed and shit. According to them, the good news is that they had to hire (buy out) more studios to finish their fucking projects for them because we all fucking know how Warcraft 3 Reforged turned out don't we. According to them, the good news is "don't worry, even though we're all at home... we might get a content patch out for you TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY PLUS DAYS AFTER LAUNCH" in World of Warcraft. According to them, the good news is breaking the news to investors they've had record quarterly earnings and they want to bring ALL of their IP's in-line with their top-earners. According to them, the good news is that they've silenced journalists. According to them, the good news is "Don't you have phones?" According to them, the good news is that Bobby Kotick is bringing in bigger and bigger bonuses. According to them, the -bad news- good news is that they've let a lot of staff go and taken down HQ's/Offices... during a rough pandemic... only to rehire more and more and more. According to them, the good news is that their lifelong, respected staff members are moving on to greener pastures. How is ANY OF THE ABOVE good news to US? The players? The loyal fanbase? The potential buyers? The customers? The clients? How is ANY OF THE ABOVE what we want to hear? Literally all of the above puts us, the gamers, and the games themselves on the back seat. And if any of it is supposed to encourage us, or make us think "I'll go where the money is... they'll produce the better games", it has the absolute adverse effect. Literally the opposite. Hearing any of the above makes me think... "I'll go to the person who puts US first and foremost". I want companies TO AT LEAST APPEAR to look like they're "making the games we would wish to play ourselves" and not just in it solely for the fucking MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEEEEEEEEEEEH! Activision's been dead to me for over a decade now. KING make mobile games... fuck em. And Blizzard? For so long I genuinely thought Activision hadn't dug their claws in, and that they were a respectable _and_ respected brand. But lately? Fuck em... They're as bad as, if not worse than, Activision themselves.
“People say companies like Activision, EA and Ubisoft are the worst but look at the top selling games every year. It’s Activision, EA and Ubisoft.” - VideoGameDunkey
I hate ea and all and i don't know if i missed something, but from this video i didn't get the main question answered. What did the taken down content show? because if it showed leaked footage i don't think it's quite black and white enough to be all pitchforky about this.
DMCA Abuse is, in of itself, a crime.
Activision is actually the worst, especially since Laura Miele became EA’s new Chief Studios Officer and seems to be determined to reestablish good will with the gaming community.
Big Brother is TWATching you
Best way to protest against a game is dont buy it!
Funny how people keep expecting corporations to play by the rules. They don't even play by the rules THEY WROTE THEMSELVES
@FuzzyThoughts FACTS!
These "journalists" would probably only talk about how there aren't enough pink haired land whales fighting the evil huwhite not-Cs and how everything is patriarchy and patriarchy is bad, anyway. I say good riddance, journalists would be better used as bone meal.
Blizzard / Activision has been awful, ignoring laws, rights etc for profit. That's not news anymore. Especially since they attempted to cater to the CCP so hard. Especially banning the player after being in favour for the Hong Kong protestors. People still buy their crap games. Profiting from games glorifying armed conflicts. Bending the truth on who committed the war crimes and atrocities to suck up to the US Ideals.
@The Black Baron. I guess you can say Activision is like the communist party. Sorry that being a bit political. I was trying to compare the two
Can somebody put all the info on a comment? F*ck them trying to silence this shite. Leak it even more.
Thank god I came to my senses about a year ago now and stopped playing modern warfare 2019.
Mihoyo(genshin impact creators) did this same thing to stop any and all talk of leaks. You should have covered that when it happened. Companies have been doing this and it needs to stop. Same thing for mihoyo trying to silent any bad press on their game. They would restrict info in the Reddit and take down any talk about leaks. They would also make sure videos that talked badly about the game not be allowed to be posted in the Reddit or anything. Things will continue to get worse until both sides learn to find a balance instead of hate and anger from the consumer and greed and lies from the companies.
Rose All my homies hate Rose
Activision should be communicating and announcing their plans and future content or even patches in the first place thats why leakers do this to break this silence
XD I modded my face in Black Ops 3. Playermodel mod. Gotta watch out now.
Very naughty dog-esque
Activision is just as corrupt as Twitter and Facebook
Why am I not surprised that the twitter corporation and the youtube corporation will turn a blind eye to their users being abused another corporation on their own platforms. These corporations hate you, it's ok to hate them back.
It doesn't matter if they face backlash because no one who plays their games will stop buying them.
Wont ever buy another activision game again! Cant support such a gross company!
People should just stop acting like stealing, spreading leaks isn't just as bad as being a leaker. You're still taking information that shouldn't be yours or anyone's in the first place. Nobody ever cares because it's not their own property or art they worked on being stolen an in some situations sold to other. I can understand were activition is coming from. Or any company small or big. Shit isn't cool an people need to stop acting like stealing or spreading stolen information is fine because it's "just covering".
it's ok when Nintendo and Sony does it
@LinklickZR 😂😂
This is insane
And yet people will KEEP GIVING ACTIVITION MONEY. This will not change until they actually suffer a financial loss from stemming from this kind of bad press.
The only way this is ever going to stop is if there becomes a way to hurt these companies in the pocketbook. Bad publicity means NOTHING to them.
All corporations and social media platforms have intertwined interests. You can kiss you free press and free speech goodbye. They are taking small steps, silencing group after group to avoid a backlash from all of them.
If an game company does us gamer wrong. We the gamer stop buying there game to teach them they are nothing with out us gamers
Let abuse the system and submit DMCA strikes on Activision Twitter
Just boycott these companies. Even better, have all entertainment journalism groups go on a strike by refusing to mention or create posts about certain businesses like Activision.
Anyone else noticing the slope getting increasingly slippery and steeper? Censorship is becoming the norm and only getting worse
Scanning the comments to see if anyone points out yong misgendering jim sterling
This makes one side look bad and doesn't make the other side look any less bad urnalists are a good representation of everything wrong with gaming right now so excuse me will I sit here and laugh
Activision is almost as bad as Naughty Dog.
Way to sabotage yourself Activision, you comment deleting snowflakes.
Oh Activision. If it didn't work out for Naughty Dog what makes you think it'll go better for you?
scummy Activision
Activision needs to stop lying to the kids.
The Streisand Effect at work

Hypocrisy, civilization's greatest virtue. Remember CP2077 leaks that Yong was so against.
It very odd that I started to notice that NBA or FIFA has not be been blame for gambling loot boxes that they approve their marketing. I am not sure that they should take action that it their sport and children are learning gambling. They have the right to withdraw and but I feel they wanted money from their fees.
Glad I got to see this before it gets DMCA'd on Monday. Best of luck, Yong.
Dude you drag these videos
Activision being shitty? But they were such a great company!
Horrible Co and horrible game
If they are so pissed about the leak being covered, how about they find out whoever keeps leaking the info and fine them and fire them, because im sure they signed an NDA when they signed on at activision. The problems are the employees who cant keep their mouths shut, not the journalists who are covering something some moron said or showed.
I hate Activision, but they're not wrong here.
I'm going to find the leaked video now, not because I actually want to watch it, but just to spite activision.
Fuck activision. I hop on MW one day to see ive been signed out. You cant contact activision anyway, so when i tried to sign in, it says my account doesnt exist. All my friends still see my account, i’m still in my regiment, and i have the numbers at the end of my name of my account (and i use my playstation account) 10 days later after submitting account recovery request, they made me make a new account and have just told me my account doesnt exist. $90, (not including all the store purchases i bought) and hundreds of hours, all gone, only to be told i dont exist. Im lost i cant do anything. I lost it all.
Take it from me I've been playing nba 2k long before vc was purchasable. In the case of nba 2k you don't have to spend money on mtx. Only if you play MyTeam that's the only mode where it's mandatory to buy packs. The grind will be slow in MyCareer but you don't have to spend on VC to upgrade your player.
Activision needs to kill these leaks at the source and not when us regular people hear about it. They need to have a company wide meeting to address this cause this can cost them millions of dollars. And pissing off the fan base.
